Climate change made itself painfully obvious yesterday when Hurricane Hilary, downgraded to a tropical storm, made landfall in Southern California, just as an earthquake hit. As always, my first thoughts were “what happens to the unhoused”? This article really made the problem clear:
There were not enough shelters or really any provisions made for the more than 75,000 people living on the streets of LA County, and yesterday they were hit with a massive storm that caused flooding and massive damage AND an earthquake.
If you’ve been following us for long, you know what this means- lost IDs and vital documents.
This happens every time there is a storm or major weather event, everywhere in the country.
In the coming weeks, we will be flooded, no pun intended, with requests for help replacing IDs and vital documents and we desperately need your help to fund those requests. Please click below and help us help our fellow citizens recover from the storm.
Thank you so much,
Kat
